The Dean of SDC will arrange periodic formal or informal meetings with you, especially in your final year of study to assess your career goals and aspirations.
By the time you graduate you would have received career guidance by participating in the following preparation programmes and activities:
Business Skills Module
Students in their second year complete an intensive business skills module which exposes them to the expectations and requirements of the workplace. Students will learn from practising designers what each position and sector entails.
Internship
In the third year students participate a 3 month industry placement. Internships provide a valuable learning experience of what actually goes on in a Design business. Students are encouraged to aim high and apply for internships at their preferred companies of choice as recent years have shown that students are often employed by the same companies that they interned with.
Industry Projects
An active involvement by industry ensures that students are kept up to date with latest developments in the workplace and requirements of every position. Live projects are also introduced into the syllabi with briefs given to students by Companies searching for fresh creative talent.
Talent Scouts and Industry recruitment
Every year SDC will receive countless calls from Design firms searching for graduates or current students to fill full or part-time positions. The Dean of the College will assess each request and recommend students that fulfil the requirements.
